This Looks Like Fun

In the spirit of the American Idol season getting into full swing, I stole this from Karen. Might be some embarrassing selections, and in truth a bunch of my top 10 songs are from Wicked and Les Miserables, but this poll is for actual artists only. So let's get on with it:

Name your top 10 most played bands on iTunes:

1. Britney Spears
2. Justin Timberlake
3. Billy Joel
4. Journey
5. Kelly Clarkson
6. Jennifer Lopez
7. Debbie Gibson
8. Carrie Underwood
9. Mariah Carey
10. Clay Aiken

What was the first song you ever heard by 6 (Jennifer Lopez)?
"If you had my love" from her On the 6 album. I had already enjoyed her as an actress, and she came out with pretty good pop songs as well.

What is your favorite album of 2 (Justin Timberlake)?
Surprisingly, I am liking his new album even more than his previous Justified album.

What is your favorite lyric that 5 (Kelly Clarkson) has sung?
"Since you've been gone, I can breathe for the first time."

How many times have you seen 4 (Journey) live?
Never have. But I'm with Karen when I say, I am so there for a Journey reunion tour as long as Steve Perry is in tow.

What is your favorite song by 7 (Debbie Gibson)?
I will always be partial to "Electric Youth." I do admit I had the Electric Youth perfume back in the day.

What is a good memory you have involving the music of 10 (Clay Aiken)?
Attending the American Idol, Season 2 concert with new friend Erica back in 2003, who over 3 years later is now one of my best friends.

Is there a song of 3 (Billy Joel) that makes you sad?
"Only the good die young" which is so sad.

What is your favorite lyric that 2 (Justin Timberlake) has sung?
"I'm bringing sexyback." I don't know what it is. I just love that song.

How did you get into 3 (Billy Joel)?
Growing up on Long Island, how could I not?

What is your favorite song by 4 (Journey)?
Open Arms, of course!

What is a good memory you have involving 2 (Justin Timberlake)?
Well Justin always brings me back to my first job days at Popstar! Magazine where Nsync was first beginning and Justin became the #1 thing in all teen mags.

Is there a song of 8 (Carrie Underwood) that makes you sad?
"I'm ain't in Chicotah anymore." It makes me think of being away from family.

What is your favorite lyric that 3 (Billy Joel) has sung?
I love the whole "we didn't start the fire" song.

What is your favorite song of 1 (Britney Spears)?
Surprisingly, it's "Toxic." Something about that song, I just love.

How many times have you seen 8 (Carrie Underwood) live?
Never. But I have seen quite a few of my list Live. I've seen Britney, Justin, Billy, Kelly, Debbie, Mariah and Clay. Britney and Justin (nsync) during my teen mag days of course.

What is your favorite album of 1 (Britney)?
I'd have to say her original, "Baby one more time."

What is a great memory you have considering 9 (Mariah Carey)?
I remember being in high school and hear Mariah's "vision of love" come on for the first time and calling into z100 to find out who that was.

What was the first song you heard by 8 (Carrie Underwood)?
It would have be whatever her audition song was on American Idol.

What is your favorite cover by 2 (Justin Timberlake)?
I don't think he's ever done one.

I'm a biter

Here's something Karen and Erica did as well...

Available or Taken: definitely available.

Best friend: is a joy to have in my life.

Cake or pie: anything that is chocolate.

Drink of choice: Water or a nice white wine.

Essential item I use everyday: deodorant.

Favorite Color: Lavendar.

Gummy bears or worms: Ugh, never been a fan.

Hometown: Lynbrook, NY where I lived for 23 years of my 30 years.

Indulgence: I love me some chocolate ice cream.

January or February: too cold. I'm ready for spring!

Kid's names: I like Evan or Ethan for a boy. I want to name after my grandpa edward. And I've always liked Abigail or Victoria for a girl. But I'm been thinking more about naming after my grandma sylvia. So I need some good S names. I kinda like Savannah.

Life is incomplete without: a good laugh.

Marriage: is something I want to do in the next 5 years. Here's hoping.

Number of siblings: 1 big bro.

Oranges or apples: apples for me.

Phobias or fears: I could go on.....

Quote: "I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen."

Reason to smile: Yes, I do. I'm a homeowner!

Season: Summer when it's not too hot. A nice day when its low 80s with a nice breeze. And I can stroll around the city in a tank, shorts and sandals and go sit out at the park with my ipod and a magazine.

Unknown fact about me: I'm pretty open to those closest to me. I actually can't think of any. How about this: When I was a baby, I had a dislocated hip and I had to wear this special contraption and do these leg exercises. Otherwise, I never would have been able to walk. Thank god for that.

Veggie I don't like: beans.

Worst Habit: Stressing out about stupid things.

Xrays: my ankle in June when I sprained it. My foot in 8th grade when I broke it.

Your favorite food: Anything chocolate. Also any italian food.

Zodiac: gemini

Crazy Transit!

What a crazy morning. I get to the subway at 77th Street and for the first time ever, it was all shut down. The rumor was that someone got hit. So I run to grab the bus on Lexington, which is now being packed to the gills. Take that sucker to 59th Street and jump on the 4 express. And this is where my morning got even more interesting. Two woman start fighting with each other and it was fabulous. They keep screaming at each other how they're faces are so fucked up that they should stop outside and I'll fuck you up even more. Then as we approached Grand Central, one of them is like this is my stop bitch, you gonna step up. It was hysterical especially when the guy next to me goes, "I haven't seen a good brawl in a while." But unfortunately the other chick stayed on the train. Oh well! But it was quite entertaining for the few minutes I was on the train. That's the great thing about living in NYC you never know what you're going to see on the way to work!

My new apartment

Yay, I'm a homeowner now. It's just so excited. And the process actually didn't take too long. I first saw this apartment in the middle of November, so only two months. So my parents have been in town since Sunday. They've been working in the new apartment putting on all new wall moldings. And we picked out the colors for the apartment light blue for the main room and light yellow by the bed area. and ordered dark beige carpeting so it's all very exciting.

And then this past weekend before my parent showed up, my college roomie Heather came in for the weekend. We had a nice time and we went to see Wicked. It was my 2nd time seeing it and wow, it was even better the 2nd time around. These girls have some damn voices on them. And the music just gets better and better everytime. But I must get cracking on the packing this weekend. Only a little over two weeks to go!

Big day!

Today's the day that I am closing on my new apartment. We have really come full circle now. I am full of nerves and just ready to get it all over with and just enjoy my new place and get ready to move and everything. Wish me luck.

In the meantime, American Idol returned last night. I enjoy laughing my ass off at some of these stupid people. But then since my friend Adena tried out for Idol this year and didn't even get past the first round, it pisses me off how many of these awful people get through to Simon just for the television aspect, but then people that are pretty good don't even make it through. But I guess that is the world of television, isn't it. I always enjoy Idol the most when it gets down to the live shows anyways. That is when it really gets good.

Clean Bill!

Yay! Good news all around. Mom went in for the catheter test today and it's all good. She has no clogging in the artery, it was just an f-in calcium deposit. How awesome is that. We are all so relieved! Especially mom the most of all. She just had to go through that all for nothing. At least, she knows they're all clear now!

And tomorrow night, wait I guess it's really tonight since It's 12:40am... Well anyways, I am having a potluck dinner at my apartment. A last hoorah at the old rental apartment before I close on my new place next week. Which is funny since a bunch of my friends have never even been to the current place. It will be fun. Lots of friends, good times and good food!

Ma Mére...

So the heart drama continues. Now my mom has to go in for a heart test tomorrow to check on one of her arteries that is 50 percent clogged. So hopefully they won't find anything further. It's a little upsetting after going through all that open heart surgery stuff with my dad in September. So good thoughts all around people. And then my parents are coming into town on the 21st to do stuff around the new apartment which will be nice and fun to see the parental units for a few days.

And the once I move I have to figure what colors to paint the walls. I have the walls of the main room and then the partial wall to think about. I don't know. I have a beige couch and a brown armchair. So my decorator Ken liked green walls and a gold partition wall. I do like those colors but I'm curious how it would like together. And now I'm thinking green and gold were my high school colors so who knows. I want to get in there with a few people and really get opinions in the actual apartement. So who knows!

Smell that?

Can you all smell that? Supposedly there's some kind of gas leak going on in the Chelsea area of Manhattan and we can smell it all over the city. I work in midtown and I can smell it in my building. Ugh! It's nauseating.

But on a more enjoyable city note, Saturday was the most glorious January day ever. It was 72 degrees here! Yup, you heard me right. It was awesome. I was out and about in a t-shirt, jeans and sandals and I was warm! But this does worry me somewhat. Will it be snowing in April.

And I finally saw the fabulous Dreamgirls movie on Friday night with Ken and Karen. I loved it. Especially that Jennifer Hudson in that song, And I'm Telling you I'm not going!" Wow, my mouth was agape for that entire performance. And our audience kept applauding her. Beyonce was surprisingly very good too. Better than expected as was Eddie Murphy. I saw many awards for this flick coming down the pipeline for awards season!
