My civic duty

So thursday began my first day of jury duty and after sitting around all day long, I had to return today. And damn it, I was picked on a jury. It starts on monday and luckily it is supposed to wrap up by Wednesday! Here's hoping. But so annoying. I did get out of there in the early afternoon today, but after checking in with work and being told that there was no need for me to come in today, I headed home. And I was just so wiped out, I felt exhausted all of a sudden. Maybe it was the two non stop days of doing absolutely nothing. Ugh. It should be an interesting experience... I guess. But after over 20 years of watch soap opera trials, it was so interesting to be in a courtroom and be questioned by the judge and the lawyers. I was waiting for someone to run with some soapy dramatic interruption or something. Monday should be interesting that's for sure!

Bringing sexyback...

I had the pleasure of seeing the fabulous Justin Timberlake in concert at MSG on Thurs night with my friend Leslie. And that was one long ass concert, definitely worth the $115 dollars that I shelled out. Started out with 40 minutes of Good Charlotte, who Leslie loves. But it's kinda sad that Good Charlotte has to open for Justin at this point in his career. Justin was then on from 9 to 11:45. Minus the boring ass 20 minute Timbaland set. Now did we really have to sit through that.

But the 2 and a half hours of Justin that we got was well worth it. Now damn can that boy sing and dance like nobody's business. And this show was even taped for HBO, so be sure and check it out on Labor Day. Like I knew the talent that Justin had since I had seen Nsync in concert quite a few times back in the boy band days. But on his own, he was even better than before.

I was beyond exhausted after that and then I headed out to Jersey to see grandma which was nice, so boy was I exhausted by the end of the weekend. But my dilemma of the week: trying to find a damn pair of high heels for my maid of honor dress for Leslie's wedding in October. I need silver heels in size 11. And damn is that hard to find. So frustrating!!!

Tale from the Gym

I was at the gym yesterday working out on the stationary bicycle, when this woman comes over and hops on the bicycle next to me. And I just couldn't help but notice her because she was so obviously anorexic. She was just so bony and skinny and just ugh. She proceeds to get on the bicycle, with three towels under her and behind her. And I was thinking how many does she need?

Well five minutes later, I see one of the NYSC staff members come over to offer her another towel and I look to my left to see why she needs another one, and the sweat is just pouring down her face like I never seen before. She had only been on the bicycle for five minutes! So the question I have for you all today is, wouldn't you think that an anorexic person would sweat so much less than the average person, since they are so lacking any fat on their bodies, so why was this woman sweating so profusely. Ugh, it was just so gross.

Some R&R

Just got back Sunday night from some very appreciated R&R in upstate New York. Leslie's mom has a house up in Swan Lake, NY so we headed up there on Friday night with her fiance and another friend, Jared. After a delish dinner at Chili's and sundaes at Friendly's, we finally made it to the house. It's a great house, with a huge deck area and we all had our own rooms, which was nice. The next two days were spent hanging by the pool and barbecuing. And can I just say that I made the most delicious grilled corn on the cob while there. I must try to attempt that somehow back in my little NYC stove. As for being away from the city for the weekend, it was nice and soooo quiet. You forget how used to you become of the sirens and trucks noises that you constantly hear while in the city. Two days of just bird chirping was so different. But we had a great time and I can't wait to do it next summer.

Quote of the Day

While discussing Whoopi Goldberg being announced as the new co-host on the The View today, a discussion then began about how Whoopi hasn't really seemed to be acting anymore lately anyways, so I then said...

Rana: "Yeah, what's the last thing she was in..."

Karen: "Umm... Ted Danson."

Hysterical!

then Elizabeth countered: "No, wasn't Frank Langella more recent!"

It was the funniest thing ever!
