Overheard in New York City

On my way to the supermarket this afternoon, I overheard this funny exchange:

Woman 1: So now that baseball is over, what is the sport now?
Man 1: Football.
Man 2: Yeah, football
Woman 2: Wait, isn't baseball still going? When does the World Series start?
Both Men: Um.....

What an idiot, how could you live in NYC and not know that the World Series has already come and gone. I just started laughing. HAHA.

On a side note, I saw The Departed yesterday. It was soo good. So well done and some fantastic performances by Leonardo DiCaprio especially, but also by Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen. I definitely see lots of nominations for this film and especially for Leo and Jack! Go see it!

Brrrr

Where did the fall come and go? It's currently 44 degrees and it's been in the 40s and 50s all week. Did I fall asleep and miss fall or something. Last week it was in the 70s, this week the 50s. It's craziness. I would like to enjoy some nice 60s breezy days before we shoot right into lovely NYC winter.

Long day at work today, but I was home by 9 so it wasn't too bad. And of course, no new Grey's Anatomy tonight or ER. What's up with these repeats already. Didn't the season just start. At least Ugly Betty was new tonight. And Laura returned to General Hospital tonight after a five year absence. I'm looking forward to seeing her reunions with Luke, Lucky, Lulu and Nikolas.

Meanwhile, Mom is coming in for Thanksgiving, which I am very excited about. So we'll have a fun girls weekend. We were hoping to get Les Miz tickets, but no orchestra seats left. DAMN!

Bahamas!

Yay, I'm going on another trip for work. I'm off next month to the Atlantis Paradise Resort in Bahamas. It should be awesome. And this time I will definitely be wearing sunblock. Even though my bad sunburn has turned into a nice tan, FINALLY!

Prison Break was soooo good last night. I just loved it. Dr. Sarah missed out on the last message from Michael. They just have to meet up. And that Lincoln gets hotter and hotter. Loved Heroes as well. So much mystery with every episode. But as for Studio 60, I just like it less and less every week. I'll stick with it, like I usually do. But I don't see it going beyond a season.

God Dammit

Okay, I am fuming. I am so fucking pissed. I just got so into this season with the Mets. This was their year. And they just blew it. It started off so good with that amazing catch early on the game. And I thought we were going to pull it off. It was god damn bases loaded in the 9th inning. They so could have done it. But alas, it's over. Nothing we can do. St. Louis took it. Now I worry for my brother. He must be so upset. I know how much he wanted this. The Mets fan deserved this. But it's over. Back to regular-scheduled programming, folks.....

YAY!

Yay, The Mets won tonight. It's amazing how into this postseason I have gotten. I was so nervous tonight watching this game on the end of my seat. But they did it, they brought it home tonight and tied up the series. It's down to Game 7 tomorrow night at Shea. Time to bring it home boys!

My lovely face

As my face begins to peel, i just await the lovely peeling of the rest of my vital limbs. And now as the work day is wrapping up and I head home to apply yet more aloe all over the place, check out this radar.

Boy is that going to make going home lots of fun tonight. But the weather is clear in St. Louis for game 5 of the NLCS tonight. Here's to the Mets winning tonight and then they come back to Shea tomorrow night, where they can hopefully close it out!

Busy TV night, new Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars as well!

I am a Lobster!

I got back from my lovely weekend in Ft. Lauderdale last night. And I had a fabulous time. We hit the beach on Saturday for three hours and that was my big mistake. I am now officially a lobster. My face and my body from head to toe are now officially as red as this picture. This shit better turn into a nice tan and not just peel off. But we had a lot of fun. Hit the mall, saw Employee of the Month, went out to dinner at Outback on Friday, then dinner at the Melting Pot on Saturday and then we played mini golf, which I suck at. Then on Sunday, we joined Cara's mother at Friendly's for lunch and except for having the worst waitree in the history of mankind, it was good. And then I headed back to the aiport.

After mini golf on saturday night, we popped in our 2 1/2 hour video from our junior year of college. I had a video camera that year and I filmed stuff in our apartment all the time that year. And we watched the whole 2 1/2 hour tape, and boy did we feel old. We were only 20 years old on that tape and boy did our clothes suck in the mid 90s and the scrungees were in full force. It was so bad and hysterical to watch. And at one point on the video I said this exactly: "We have to all get together when we're 30 and watch this tape!" How crazy is that. Now we just have to get together with our other 2 roommates Heather and Tracy and do just that. But we haven't gotten all four of us in the same place since Cara's wedding in April of 2003! Here's hoping for a reunion soon. Cara and Heather are planning to visit me in January, we just need to get Tracy onboard now!

Sunny Skies Ahead

I am off to the sunny skies of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida tomorrow to visit my college roomie Cara. I haven't been down to see her since April, 2004. So it's been 2 1/2 years, which is absolute crazines being that we lived together all four years of college. So we have lots of stuff planned to do. And we will definitely be hitting the beach. It will be in the mid-80s all weekend! Fun in the sun time!

So Sad

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=local&id=4649965

A terrible plane crash happened in my neighborhood today. A plane crashed into a high rise building, just two blocks from where I live. And now it has come out that it was Yankee pitcher, Cory Lidle, on his own plane and he was killed so sad. And the saddest part is that, if the Yankees were still playing, he wouldn't have been flying tonight, he would have been getting ready for tonight's game. Sad day.... Now let's hope I'm able to get home tonight, with all the craziness up there.

Halfway There

So the Mets did it last night. They clinched the National Division Series. So starting Wednesday they'll be playing either St. Louis or San Diego to get to the World Series.

But on a different note, the Yankees were knocked out of the series over the weekend. And I feel bad for my pals who are such big fans. I know how heartbroken they must be. :(

Otherwise, it was another fast weekend. Went and saw Hollywoodland today. And I really liked it. Especially Adrien Brody and Ben Affleck, they gave great performances. I'm just considered the movie was released too early for good awards consideration. Well tonight, will be an early one for me since I have to be at work tomorrow at 7am!

Mets are rockin' it!

The Mets won again last night. Go Mets. Now they head to L.A. to face the Dodgers on their home turf tomorrow night. One more win and and we're halfway to the World Series. Friday got here quickly which is nice, except it got so cold out. It's like in the 50s today. But I am heading to Fort Lauderdale, Florida next weekend to visit my college roomie Cara, whom I haven't seen in 2 1/2 years, so I am very excited about that!

One down..

The Mets won game 1 on the NLDS playoffs. Lets.. Go... Mets...

But on the flip side, great night of TV last night with ABC's great lineup of Lost and The Nine. These two shows are so perfectly suited for each other. Lost was great, but pulling the usual. Answers one thing, but then opens up a whole new batch of questions. And I loved it. And then The Nine premiered and I really loved it. Even more than I excpected to. Yea, I love me some Bailey Salinger, but in addition to that. I just love the whole concept. It's very Lost like with the flashbacks but in a different way. I think this is going to be a really good show...

Onto Game 2 for the Mets tonight...

3 Hours to go...

until the Yom Kippur fast begins. So I am making myself of hearty turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Boy has this been a crazy weekend. Yesterday, my crazy night of two parties was a lot of fun. First was Adena's birthday dinner at Max Brenner's chocolate restaurant in Union Square. And my god, is that place insanely good or what. It was a whole group of us, so we had chocolate pizza, chocolate fondue, chocolate ice cream, chocolate pop rocks. Omg, it waas sooo good. Now I know what heaven is like, this chocolate paradise. Then it was off to Karen's party to celebrate her chicken's birthday. Nope, it's not a real chicken, but a stuffed one, but that's a whole different story. See Karen's blog for more. But it was a load of fun. I ran into Mona on the PATH on the way there. And then we enjoyed Karen's delcious Italian cooking and Ken's delicious chocolate cake. And I finally got see Erica's new room. First time, I've been to the pad since Erica moved in in May. Busy weekend for sure and it continues into tomorrow as I head over to New Jersey to my Aunt's House to break the fast tomorrow night. Wish me an easy fast!
