Onto New Things!

Wow, I can't believe it. Two weeks from tomorrow I am starting work at my new job. For more money and at a cool new magazine. I interview last wednesday and got the job offer on monday evening. It's so exciting. And I'll be working with Carolyn, Ken and Karen. But I', going to miss seeing my girls Dorothy and Erica. Of course, we'll still see each other ALL THE time. but still, it will be different, not being in the same office. But hopefully I can meet new cool people to expand our circle of friends even more. But it's also weird. other than those lovely few months, i spent in ohio, I have been at Digest for 4 years. But it's onto bigger and better things now. My last day is July 12th and then I begin the new gig on July 14th. And I get a day off in between. Yahoo.

But this weekend is going to be a weird one. It's pretty funny, but every single one of my friends except my roomie is going out of town this weekend for 4th of July. It's pretty crazy. So I'm just gonna chill, maybe go hang with Mandy, she'll be around too but lives on the Island and maybe I'll check out some movies. War of the Worlds, perhaps?

What A Fun Weekend!

I had such a fun weekend. After a chill friday night, on saturday, dorothy and erica took me out to see bewitched and out to dinner for my birthday. but bewitched was nothing great. All the funny stuff was in the commercials. but it was still a blast and dinner was great. thanks girlies!

then we went back to chill at dorothy's before we started getting ready to go out to celebrate David's 27th birthday. And we had so much fun. It reminded me of the college days when we would all get ready together. And Erica straightened my hair. It looked fab! We had a blast at David's party. But drinking a little too much meant that we all ended up dancing on the bar and I was pretty nauseous till like 7 am. So yesterday, I did nothing. And boy did I need it. I was exhausted. Two jam packed weekends in a row. I am ready for a break.

This weekend should be nice and quiet, everyone's going away, but I'm sticking around, so I'm sure there won't be much going on. And the big "S" is off today and so nice and quiet around these parts.

Okay, I'm A Blog Slacker

Yea, yea I know. I have yet to fully blog about my birthday. But there is just so much to report. After trying to see Batman on friday night with Ken and Erica and finding it sold out. We called it an early night. Mom was wiped. Then on Saturday, mom and me hit the Newport Mall. Gap had a great sale going on. I got 4 tops, two capris and a skirt for just 112! Wow. And I used my gift card. Then we saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was really good. And wow, that chemistry with Brad and Angelina, they are so together. Poor Jen Aniston.

Then Saturday night came. And it was so fun. It had been exactly a year since I left Ohio and came back to NY. And to have a night out with 15 of my close friends. It showed me that there are other kinds of families and that's what I have here in NY. That's what I have to remind myself of some times. And the food at El Cantinero was so good. And those strawberry margaritas, yummy. I had 2! Then we mozied on over to this bar that David knew of called Tracy J's Watering Hole. And they had Karaoke! Which makes me so excited. And everyone kept buying me drinks. I had two cosmo's, 3 blowjob shots and a screwdriver there. Thanks everyone! And I had a blast. Sang three duets with Adena, Oh, what a feeling, Hit me with your Best show and Wannabe. And David got up there too. Man, he can sing!

I got home like 3-ish and by this time, it was my birthday. I am now 29. I'm old and single. I need to change that. But not so easy. So anyone, I lounged around till 2 on sunday, then hit the grocery store with mom. But I was wiped. Then we had an awesome dinner for my birthday Tutta Pasta. Mmmmm. And then cake back at the apt. All chocolate, yummy.

And now another weekend is almost there. Mom was here till Tuesday, and a friend of Adena's arrived last night for the weekend. He seems nice, from Denmark!

I'm wiped from this busy weekend.

Not Often Enough!

Okay, Erica pointed out to me last night that I only post on Wednesdays and Sundays, which is so weird because it is not an on purpose thing. But now I have realized that I have not posted this Sunday. I'm always like oh I should go post about that, then I get distracted. So anyways, I had a kick-butt workout on Monday night with Adena. We worked out during the return of Summerland. It's kind of sad this show wasn't renewed for fall. I feel like I just interviewed Jesse for the feature in Digest, and this show is a guilty pleasure. There's rumors maybe it will be back in midseason if the summer run does well. Anyways, We did an hour workout in our building's gym and then proceeded to go back up to the apartment and do her 20-minutes Pilates tape. Whew, that thing kicks your ass.

Oh and Monday was the start of our limited hours at work, we can only work 35 hours a week now, since we can't get overtime. So I don't go in till 10 now, and not till 10:30 on Wednesdays for closing. So nice to sleep in a little. But kinda weird too. Then on Tuesday, Ken got a screening pass to see The Perfect Man starring Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. We loved it. Me and Ken have the funniest movie tastes. We just love the teenybopper flicks. Come on, they're so much fun to watch. No real thinking needed.

When I arrived home from work yesterday, there was a big box sitting by my elevator. Birthdays presents from Mom and Dad! YEAHHH! But I called mom and she's like, do you want to open them now or wait until Sunday? I'm like, I don't know. But now as I think about it, I want to wait till Sunday. I'll have nothing else to do and it will be weird not being with my family that day, with it being both my birthday and father's day. So hopefully I'll end up doing something. But I'm looking forward to the weekend. Planning to see Batman tomorrow with Kenny. Then partying on Saturday night and then my birthday on Sunday! I should try to see if anyone wants to go out for a late brunch or early dinner or something on Sunday with me. Who knows?

Exhausting Day!

Whew, am I pooped. Went with the roomie into the city today to check out this BBQ festival that they were having in Madison Square Park. And it was insane. Every single booth has hour long lines. So no bbq for us. Instead got a smoothie at Wendy's and lied out in the park. Then walked around the union square area for a few hours. Checked ot the restaurant I picked for my birthday festivities next saturday. Looks like a cool place. Now I just need to find a cool bar for us all to hit after dinner. Any suggestions? Party time! I can't believe my birthday is a week from today. Craziness. But we were walking around from 2:40 to almost 8! Tired! But I ran into Karen at the PATH today. She was just coming back from seeing Anthony at the Liberty game!

The rest of the weekend was so cool and relazing. spent a lot of time with Kenny. We went out to dinner with Adena and Drew on Friday night in Hoboken and then just walked around Hoboken for hours just chatting. Then on Saturday night, I was planning to do a picnic in the park with Adena but a horrible lighting storm shot down that plan, so Ken called to do dinner at Ole in Newport. My fave mexican place. So we meet up at like 10pm. And this muggy weather of course continues, but when we get to Ole. They tell us the kitchen is closed because they have no A/C! Wahhhh! Went to the seafood place there instead. But still no Ole. And again walked around and sat by the water chatting till 1am. It was a nice weekend.

Back to the work week tomorrow. Where these cool new hours begin. We've now been told that we can only work 35 hours a week. What about all the years of overtime I've put in there. But now when I'm there late, I get to come in late the next day to make up for it. Yeah!

Bubble In The Wall?

So weird. Last night, I was all good. Came home in another night of sweltering heat knowing that I was going to workout in the gym tonight. And that new show, Fire Me please looked like a funny one to work out too. So I went down worked out for 45 minutes and then headed back upstairs. A little while later, I go to take a shower and no hot water?? But I wait a little bit, and the hot water is back. Then all of a sudden, it's 11pm and I'm going into the kitchen. And I see a bubble of the wall hanging down in the entry wall near the kitchen. And I reach up and it feels like the ceiling is melting and a hole has formed. I call Adena out there and she's like there must be a leak of some sort. So after calls to the management, we go upstairs to check on the apt. above us. They had the same problem. So we go over to the lady who is the president of the condo. And they all come down to check out our damage. Turns out, they had some hot water heather problem. So that is being fixed and now we have to wait for our wall to be fixed. Fun Fun!

And now it's Wednesday here at work. And the day had been doing so well. I was working on the opening spread and I was finished at 4pm. That is unheard of here on a closing day. But the boss is in LA, so she wants to see all the news pages. So I faxed it to her at 4. Hopefully, we'll hear back soon. Tonight is the showing of Bridget Jones, at the Hoboken part, so I might check that out later. But doesn't start till 9 and it is so muggy out!

Summer Swelter!

Wow, three days going of this crazy 90 degree heat. And it continues again tomorrow. What is up with this? I like nice weather, but not this hot. Give us some spring weather please. But anyways, Miss S who run my dept. has been driving me crazy like usual. Yesterday, she had a doc appt. and after she is gone an hour, she calls to check in and let me know she's still there. Oh My god. Things run fine without her and I even get more done when she's gone. She's like afraid to take a day off and miss something and she has 4 weeks vacation to take. But anyways, I digress.

Hoboken just started having these summer movie nights on Wednesdays in Sinatra Park. But of course Wednesdays are my late night at work, so I'm never up for doing anything on those nights. Karoaoke is hoboken is that night too. But tonight theyre showing Bridget Jones 2, and I've seen it twice and I love it. So I might try to go. Nice thing about the summer in the Boken, being that it's my first summer living her, since I moved in over labor day weekend.

Last night, we had these crazy storms. But I had promised Erica I would go with her to see her co-worker Heather Flynn sing at some bar in Soho. So us along with Kenny and her roomie, another Heather went to Outback before the show since it wasn't until 8:30. Outback is such my guilty pleasure in the city. There are so many amazing restaurants in this fabulous city we live, so going to a chain seems sacri-relig. But sometimes you just need that bloomin onion and caesar salad that is mmmm so good. The performance at the bar was good. She has a Jewel-esque voice, but her songs sounded all the same. But I spent too much money eating out the past few days. And then when I got back to Hoboken it was lighting and pouring so I forked over 5 bucks for a cab. Oh well.

I stopped at Banana Republic on the way home tonight on 34th street. I have this 15 dollar card that Banana sent me for my birthday month. And I saw this really cute top and that would make a great b-day outfit with jeans. It was pink, a tank with all these ruffles. But the only ones they had in my size, had pulled threads. Oh well, Kenny is working tomorrow, I'll see if he can pick me up one. Well almost time to work out! Fun, fun. Maybe I'll work out while wartching that Fire Me show on CBS, looks kinda funny. Summer reality TV is so funny sometimes.

What A Steamer!

Okay, it's just the beginning of June and today it hit 90 degrees! It's now almost 11pm and it's still 77 degrees! Whew! Like I enjoy the warm weather like the next gal, but this is ridiculous. Last week it was chilly and rainy and then bam storm right into the summer. I prefer upper 70s with a nice breeze. And more 80s weather all this week. After friday Traveling Pants with the gals and dinner, I returned home to Hoboken in the lovely rain. Before diving into a game of pop culture trivial pursit from midnght to 2:30, with Drew and Adena. Drew won again. Then met up with Leslie for lunch in the city on Saturday. We met in times square since it's halfway and found a really cute italian place on restaurant row on 9th avenue at 44th street. But the sun was baking down on us as we strolled around the city. It so iped me out that i passed out from like 6-7. Before meeting Ken for a late dinner in Newport at like 9:30 followed by some gelato. Ken wanted a frap but would you believe they were out of frap mix! Today was just a lazy day of just chilling on the balcony, enjoying the sun and finished the Pants book. I loved it, so good! Can't wait for the next one. And watched the Tonys just now. I have not seen any of these new shows, oh well. And we began spring cleaning. Switching our sweaters for our summer clothes. Yeah! Summer has arrived. If only it was not with such a big boom!

I'm Back!!!

Wow! I have been gone since Friday night in Ohio visiting the fam. I spent 4 1/2 days there and boy it went fast. But it was a nice time. Just tough that they're all there together and here I am in New York where we all used to live. Oh well. One never knows what road we will all take. But it was a nice time. My grandma flew out too from Jersey. I actually flew back with her today. I was originally on a flight to LaGuardia, but got on her Newark flight. And I got home so much faster, since I only live 14 minutes from there. I got to Ohio friday night, they kept Ellis up until we got there. And he just ran into my arms when I walked into the house. Then Saturday we took him to see Madagascar and out to dinner. What a cute moive that was. First movie I took him too. He enjoyed it. But then he kept turning to me and saying, can we go play games now. So cute. Then on Sunday, we had Ellis's 3rd bday party, even though his birthday wasn't until tuesday. His theme was hot wheels and he was so cute. Then that night, me and my brother Keith went to a Mudhens game. Ellis was supposed to go too but he was too pooped from his big day. Disappointing, but we still had fun. Monday, I babysat Ellis so Keith and Shan could go see Star Wars. We played in the backyard, and just hung out. I was putting him down for his nap, and then I started to get up, and he said, cuddle me for five more minutes. The cutest. Then since it was memorial day, we had a big BBQ at my parents house. And then Tuesday was Ellis's birthday. We took him to IHOP and they sang to him. It was so loud, he covered his ears. Then me and mom said we had a surprise for him at the mall, and he says, what kind of prize? So cute. We took him to build a bear in the mall. And he made his own stuffed cat. Named him tiger. And they sang to him there too. Then back to dinner and birthday cake for Ellis's actual birthday night. Then today was mom's birthday, we had lunch out all together and then it was off to the airport. And now here I am back in Hoboken, returning to work tomorrow and boy did that trip fly back. But boy it feels nice to be home!
