I Miss My Computer!

This sucks. I have now gone officially one week without my precious laptop. I've been having trouble with it for awhile. Every day when I used it, the whole screen would get jumbley and bounce around with all the different colored bars. So I dropped it off at Best Buy last friday since I still have my warranty. And I have another 1-2 weeks without. Argh! Well at least my roomie has a computer when I need it, but I miss being online. So sorry for the lack of blogging for the past week.

So mom was here all last weekend. And we had a blast saw Fiddler on the Roof on friday. Rosie disappointed a little. I just think it's her kind of part. The part required her to be too restrained and not boisterous like she is. But Harvey Fierstein was amazing. We were in the front row and saw him well out during the big emotional number. And we had dinner at the new Hard Rock Cafe beforehand. That place is huge and I love the food like usual.

Then Saturday, we went to grandma's and spent the day there. Me and mom hit the Freehold Mall and I bought 6 pairs of shoes! Okay well grandma bought the UGGS and my paid for another pair. But I hooked it up with some great new shoes at Nordstrom. I have such big feet, size 11, that I haven't new stylish shoes in forever. But I love em! Then later met up with the aunt and uncle and cousin Jennifer and Chris for dinner at this fab italian place. I got clams posillipo. Loved it. But boy driving home from there, yay for rental car, it was just torrential rain! It sucked.

Sunday we met up with Ken to see Rent. It was my fourth time. And it was better than ever and then we met Erica for a great prix-fixe italian dinner on restaurant row. But seeing Rent got me all psyched for seeing movie. We've already got plans to see it the night before thanksgiving.

Speaking of turkey day, I have a dilemma. My sister-in-law called last night. She told me that my brother, her and Ellis are now planning to drive in from Ohio and go to grandma's for thanksgiving. Now I'm torn, because I already have plans to have thanksgiving here with friends. What to do?

TGIF!

Boy is it crappy and rainy out today, but TGIF. My mom flew in to new york yesterday morning, but stayed on Long Island at my cousin marilyn's house since she had court first thing this morning. Her stupid mailman from like 2 years ago is suing them for slipping on leaves. So Ridiculous. I haven't heard from her yet today, so she must still be in court dealing with these stupid people. Then tonight we are off to dinner at 6pm. I made a reservation at like 3 different italian places and mom can pick the one she likes and wants to eat at. I'm leading toward Bolzano's on 45th Street, they look like they have great pre-theater meal. And then we are off to see Fiddler on the Roof tonight with my roomie and her boyfriend. Front-row seats, I can't wait. Rosie O'Donnell and Harvey Fierstein are in tonight, so should be a lot of fun. Then going to spend the day with grandma on Sat. and seeing Rent (my fourth time) on Sunday with Kenny. And then Erica will join us afterward for dinner at Tony's on 43rd Street. We love us some italian food.

Meanwhile, the rest of week has been quiet. Only worked from 12-8 on wednesday and thursday. So nice and calm. But I still haven't watched Alias yet. I got home at 9pm last night and was just straightening up the apartment. Maybe me and mom will watch it at some point this weekend. Maybe sunday night before DH.

My one nusiance of the week was yesterday morning. I didn't have to be at work till noon since I was working the late shift. So at 11:15, I'm approaching the bus stop on Washington Street in Hoboken. And what do I see, about 40 middle school kids and their teachers waiting to get on the bus. Are you fucking kidding me? Ever heard of a damn yellow school bus when you go on a field trip. You don't take public transportation! OMG, I was ready to kill. And then they hold up the bus for 20 minutes as they put dollar bills into the fare machine for each individual kids. Are yoou freaking kidding me. You didn't get tickets. And these kids were obnoxious. They jammed the whole bus and were so loud and rowdy. I started bitching loudly about these asses. OMG! Thank god I never became a teacher!

Early Morning!

So I worked the early 7am shift this morning. The nice part is getting out at 1 and today I even got to leave at 12:30! But boy was I wiped. Being that I had to be up at 5:30 today, I tried to go to bed early last night. Really I did. After watching DH, which was great, but I feel it's missing something it had last season and they really need to try showing gabbys pregnancy already. So I just watched the first 10 minutes of Grey's Anatomy which I so love and headed to bed. Then I watched a little more of Grey's and hit the sack at 10:30. The rest I'll have to watch on Tivo at a later date. But I am so not used to going to bed that early. So I took me an hour just to fall asleep. But I got to nap this afternoon which was so nice.

But there was this crazy banging going on all afternoon, they must be doing work on the apt. right below me or something. Argh, it was so annoying.

As for the weekend, it was nice and quiet. After work on friday, Ken came over and borrowed my bigger suitcase then we called a cab since it was pouring rain!!! Sunday was the first day in 8 days we saw the sun. Then we headed to OLE for dinner, yummy and then hung out at his place as I helped him pack for England. He is on an awesome media trip through the English countryside for a week. It's probably so awesome.

Then Saturday night, I headed into the city to see my coworker Mona directing her acting students in a great show. They were all so talented and damn funny. And we all headed to Cowgirl Hall of Fame for drinks and food afterward. MMM nachos and salsa were the best there.

Sunday was my veg day, did nothing. Since I knew I was up early today. And my mom is coming to visit this weekend. She has a courtcase on Long Island on friday because their stupid old mailperson is suing them for supposedly slipping on leaves. So mom will be here from friday to monday. So it will be fun. We're seeing fiddler on friday, going to see grandma on saturday, we'll have a rental car!, and seeing rent on sunday. Can't wait!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Ugh, what is up with this damn rain. I got poured on all last weekend. And then it began again yesterday! But today was the rest of all, we've already gotten like 5 inches of rain. And this morning was awful. Stomping through torrential rain. And boy was Hoboken flooding. Ever corner was ankle deep in water so my sneakers and my jeans got drenched. Ugh so gross. And then again when I came home.

But I got out at lovely 3pm since Yom Kippur started tonight. I got home just before 4 and finishing cooking our big dinner tonight and then the roomie got home from work just before 5. And boy did we mange. We had brisket, potatoes, asparagus, broccoli casserole, soup, challah. yummy. And It's a good thing because I can't eat again till tomm night when I'll go to my aunt's house in marlboro, nj. But it will be nice to sleep in tomorrow and have the day off even with fasting. and then it will be friday. How nice is that? But I do have the lovely 7am shift on monday morning at work.

And Lost was nothing spectatular this week. Yeah, it was cool seeing the other side of the island and finally meeting rose's husband. But what was the big deal with Hurley's buddy, why was he so freaked out just because his bud won the lottery. Funny that it was DJ Qualls from Road Trip playing the friend. I actually interviewed him once when I worked at popstar. How funny.

But loved Gilmore Girls last night. Go Gilmore Elders with finally telling off the Huntzbergers. It was so awesome. Now let's get our girls back together already. Richard goes to see Lorelai next week! Can't wait.

I've been Yankee-Washed!

I don't know what is up with me. My bud Karen is definitely having an effect. I have been drawn into these Yankee playoffs and now I am so pissed off that they lost. This is so not like me. I am not a sports fan. I generally hate most sports, but i occassionally enjoy a good baseball game. And I was raised a Mets fan, so I go to an occassional game and am happy when the Mets win, but this is crazy. I was so nervous for the yankees playing tonight and then they were just down two runs at the end and had two men on base. All they needed to do was bring it home. Well they did try and it was so close, so oh well. Sorry Karen, I know this is a tough night for you.

On a lighter note, I had a really fun weekend. And it went by so fast. Even with the crazyyyyy rain on saturday. But before that the rain began on friday. But I had dinner plans with Leslie up by her apartment at 116th and Riverside. But I got out of work early so I went to the AMC 42nd street theater to kill time and see Flight Plan. I had heard so-so review. But I really enjoyed it. I was definitely on the edge of my seat. And then I go to take 1/9 up to Leslies and I see that an express is coming so I jump on that. But then I realize that the express is actually the 3 and goes to other side of the park. AH! So here I am at 116th and Lenox Avenue also know as Malcolm X Boulevard. It's dark, raining and no cabs. I was finally giving up and was going to take the subway downtown and then back up. When I finally saw a cab. Leslie's apartment is so cute! She is finally unpacked and everything. And she may even have a Halloween housewarming party, which would be so fun. Then we went to a fab mexican place right by Columbia, Nacho's Kitchen. Loved it. It was so yummy.

So slept in on rainy day saturday then went to meet Ken for a 5pm movie of In Her Shoes. I decided to take a poncho instead of an umbrella so I didn't have to carry it all night and I got so wet expecially my jeans. And I wore sandals, stupid me. And as I am walking up 14th street, I noticed Ian Buchanan from All My Children. Weird. SO I get to the Union Sq. Theater, and it is the most packed I have seen in my life. I can barely get in the door. Everyone and their mother was at this theater. So me and Ken settle into the theater and we just loved In Her Shoes. It was a long movie and I didn't care. It was that good. And Cameron Diaz really impressed me. I can't wait to read the book now. This is why I wait to read books till after the movie. That way I didn't know what was coming in the movie, which is how I liked it.

After the movie, we met Erica at City Crab for dinner. It was so yummy. I had steamers and a seafood platter with lobster mashed potatoes. But I do need to start eating better. I had a checkup and my cholesterol is high, so time for a low fat diet! After dinner we headed down to the village for Tonya's birthday party at Pinch Bar and Grill. And it was lot of fun as we watched the rain pour down even more, had some drinks and played fun darts. I was pretty darn good.

Sunday was my day of nothing except hitting the grocery store and making from scratch chicken soup for me and le roomie's pre-yom kippur feast on wednesday night. Can't wait to mange on good jewish treats. Speaking of eating, I joined weight watchers today. I had done it like 4 yrs ago and took off 30 pds. But I need to take that off again. And this time I'm totally sticking with it!

I've Been Tagged!

Okay, I love this stuff and I've been tagged, so here goes:

Ten Years Ago: October 1995
I was at the beginning of my sophomore year in college at Umass-Amherst. I had just moved into the best dorm ever, JQA tower in Southwest with my roomie Cara, where we come to meet our future two roommates, Heather and Tracy. We lived in the same building with all the basketball players and that year we would go on to win the final four with star Marcus Camby!

Five Years Ago: October 2000
I was still living on Long Island with the fam while working at Popstar! Magazine where I made no money. I was enthralled in the world of Britney Spears and Nsync. The crazy world of teenybopper pop culture.

One Year Ago: October 2004
Well two years ago, was when I made the unfortunate mistake of agreeing to move to Ohio with my family. So one year ago, I had been back in new york for just over 3 months and had been living in my hoboken apartment for a month. Oh and I had been back in the copy department at Soap Opera Digest for about a month as well.

Yesterday: Tuesday
I flew back from Ohio after a extra long weekend visiting the family. It's still hard for me to know that they live so far away and they used to all live here, but I also know that I have finally grown up and realized that I have to get a life of my own away from my family. But I miss seeing my nephew grow up. But I see him every three months, so that's pretty damn good.

I am Back!

Okay brief post, for i am pooped and have to return to the grind of the workplace tommorrow. Had a great few days with the fam in ohio, especially little ellis, had lots of fun time and enjoyed rosh hashanah dinner with the fam last night.

And I even got onto an early flight to newark today instead of a later one to laguardia. so yay for me. I was home at 4pm! It's so cool living only 15 minutes from Newark Airport. But I always book through Lagurdia to Detroit, it's just cheaper and I always leave after work.

And Gilmore was so good tonight, but Rory is just annoying me more and more every week. She is becoming too Emily Gilmore-esque! And I agree with Lorelai about Rory's cell phone number. And I got sucked into a new show this weekend. They repeated the pilot of Commander In Chief on Saturday night, so me and mom watched. And we both got totally sucked in. So I added it to tivo, since it's on the same time as Amazing Race, tuesdays at 9. I am enjoying it though. But anyways, I'll write more tomorrow!
