Summer is here!

that is so for sure, summer is definitely here. June 1st is on Friday already and it is my mom and my best bud Cara's birthday on that day also. And tomorrow is my nephew Ellis' 5th birthday and I can just not believe that one. It was just like yesterday when I was leaving work at Soap Opera Digest to rush out to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where I was also born, to see my little nephew come into the world. I won't be there for this birthday party this weekend. But I will be heading out on Wednesday night, he's going to be in a dance recital and I can not wait.

In the meantime, I have spent the past week fighting this cold and cough. And it's finally on its way out, thank god. After staying home from work on thursday and friday, and then spending basically the entire weekend in bed, I was happy to have to go to work on Memorial Day, even though it was a pretty crazy day! But I get a comp day off from it and it will be used next week for my 4 day trip to the lovely Ohio. Would you believe I haven't been out there in almost 6 months. I haven't seen my dogs this whole time. Here's hoping they remember who I am.

On a side note, now that the TV season is offically over, I am finally catching up on all my Tivo. And I checked out a new show tonight called Hidden Palms, and you know what I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what happens next. It was very O.C. like and I'm really liking it right off the bat even with the weird O.C. connection. The lead guy role is played by the same guy who played Oliver on The O.C. I hated him in that role, but I am really liking his portrayal of this new character. So we will see where it goes...

Screw you damn cold!

Ugh, I hate this!!! I have a damn head and chest cold. It started yesterday morning with the throat that felt like glass shards when I swallowed. And of course, as I thought it would, today I awoke to this horrendous cold.

It is so horrible. From the top of my head through down to my nose down into my chest, I am all congested and it is horrible. I have already been through practically a box of tissues. After staying home feeling crappy and my tastebuds are all messed up too. Everything I make to eat just doesn't taste great to me. Isn't that weird. But no matter what I do, I need to go to work tomorrow since one of my co-workers already has the day off. And then I'm working on Memorial Day as well. So I must come home right after work and hit the sack.

Also because I now have a family party to go to on Saturday night that came out of the blue. But grandma will be coming into the city along with my aunt and uncle to go to this 70th birthday party for one of my like 2nd cousins. So it should be fun to see a bunch of the extended family. It's for the father of the random cousin I ran into at Mona and Sharon's party a few months ago. Should be interesting. That is if I'm feeling better by then. Here's hoping. And it's supposed to be 92 degrees tomorrow and 85 degrees on Saturday! What the hell!!

And on a funny note, my mom just called mentioning Jordin winning American Idol last night and was just saying and I quote, "She is the best winner they've ever had, better than Kelly Clarkson." And I actually said, "Excuse me, better than Kelly! No one is better than Kelly! Did you hear her perform last night." But I digress. She was great, but definitely not better than my Kelly, the original idol, who me and Erica will be treking out to Long Island to see in concert in August. It should be fabulous.

It will be a music filled week in August as I'm seeing Justin Timberlake at the Garden two days before that with Leslie. But it will be great. And Justin's show will be taped for an HBO concert special. How cool is that.

Okay, it's almost time for some NyQuil and some bedtime!

Idol Performances!

Where did the past five months go? I remember just yesterday it was mid January and we were counting down to the start of the new season of Idol and we're already at the finale. Where does the time go? I really enjoyed tonight's first part of the finale, I really think that both Blake and Jordin did a great job tonight. When tonight's first show started I was saying that I really liked both of them so I wasn't going to bother to vote, because who would I vote for. But that changed by the end of the hour. Blake wowed me with his bon jovi and maroon 5, but the winning song did nothing for him. And I do feel that that's not fair. Those finale songs are always ballady and that does nothing for a singer like Blake. On the flip side of the coin, Jordin did great on Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride and then she really blew me away on the last song. And she got emotional. That girl changed my voting plan for the night. She deserves to win and she will win. I love my Blake and have no fear he will have a successful career, but this is a singing competition, and this year's prize definitely belongs to Miss Jordin Sparks. Can't wait for the finale special tomorrow night. They're keeping all the performances so hush hush. With that and a 2 hour finale of Lost, that will be the official end to the 2007 TV season.

As for the other great TV of the night, Veronica Mars came to an end and it was a very disappointing end at that. It was just two random episodes, nothing geared to a series finale at all. And that just sucks. It just ended and that was that. That's why I hate when they film these finales not knowing if they will be coming back next season or not. Why do all the best written shows never get their due. Felicity, Alias, Everwood, Veronica Mars. Then please tell me why does crap like King of Queens stay on for 10 years. But whatever, I digress. I will miss Veronica Mars. Here's hoping we see Kristen Bell on something soon. For now I hear she will be narrating this new show called Gossip Girl. Should be interesting. This year brought some great new shows, Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters and Heroes, who knows what next season will bring. I guess we will see in just 4 short months!

Of all the Sundays...

I can't believe The Sopranos this week. I am always home on Sunday. I am always watching The Sopranos live. And of course this week, I was down in New Jersey celebrating Mother's Day with Grandma and crew and I didn't get home last night until 10:30pm. And of course something finally happened on The Sopranos! Poor Crisssttaffeerr was killed!! And I didn't even get to enjoy the shock of it, because I knew what happened before I actually watch it. Of course, of all the Sundays.

Glad to be back at home though, I was away all of Saturday and Sunday, that was enough of the familia in New Jersey for a while, but I am going to be seeing my real family in Ohio in just 3 weeks so I can't wait. I haven't been out there almost 6 months. I miss my doggies like crazy. And then of course today, I get home from work and guess what is in my mailbox, not the mets tickets that keep getting lost in the mail and/or sent to my old address, but a Jury Duty notice. And it's for the day I leave for Ohio!! Can't you believe it? So I called this automated number and picked a random Wednesday for the end of August, when I know I'll be around. Fun! Fun!

WTF Lost?!?

What is going on with Lost, it's been so fanfreaking crazy but awesome, all at the same time. Who is this Jacob guy and why does he look like Jesus in a rocking chair. And is Ben really able to see him, because if so why was he so freaked out that John heard him say something. Loved the Ben flashbacks as well. He was such the little Harry Potter. But what I really want to know is what happened to the little girl he obviously loved. Did she make it to adulthood? When did the extermination of the Dharma Initiative people happen? And why has that guy Richard not aged a day in 30 years? And why is Ben the leader of the Others and not him? I need answers people!! And we only have 3 hours left of Lost this season! Charlie flashback is next week. I have a feeling he'll be dying for real this time. And the two hours finale will be all about Jack. Hmm, what could that possibly mean?

As for my for the other show of the evening, I was happy to see LaKisha go. It was just her time. Melinda, Jordin and Blake have been my faves from the start, so I'm excited to see where next week will take them. But I have a feeling Jordin will be taking this thing home. She's totally my pick to win! I think LaKisha just "brought it" too early on in the game with "And I am Telling You" and never measured up to that level of brilliance ever since.

As for my housewarming, it was a blast. And everyone loved my apartment, which was awesome, since I am so happy there. Now it's only a little over a month until my birthday festivities!

This and That...

A lot of rambling thoughts tonight....

A great week for American Idol. Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey were eliminated, making this my dream final four. What's better than LaKisha, Melinda, Blake and Jordin. I still am rooting for Blake and Jordin in the final two and Melinda with them in the final 3. LaKisha just isn't rising to the occassion lately.

On the same night as Idol, Karen, Erica and I had a fantabulous time at the big screen re-release of Dirty Dancing for its 20th anniversary. It was such a blast. The audience was so into it, laughing at the cheesy parts and applauding at the fabulous parts. And damn now I remember why I was so into Patrick Swayze back when I was 11 years old. He was so damn hot in this movie.

But as for the end of the week, that was kind of crappy. I worked late last night and got home around 9pm, then about a half hour later, I had the worst nauseous stomachache of my life as I tried to watch this 2 hour Grey's Anatomy/Kate Walsh spinoff. I think this show has potential but I think it would have been better off as a regular Grey's episode followed by the hour pilot instead of this back and forth nonsense. I'm sure I'll check it out in the Fall and see what I think will be called Private Practice in the fall. I'm actually looking forward to the Upfronts week in two weeks. I love seeing what news shows will be hitting the airwaves.

Anyways, back to my stomach, I started feeling a little better by 11pm or so . But then from 1-2am, I was awake in agony and eventually praying to the porcelain god. Unfortunately nothing came of that and I ended up lying on the bathroom floor at one point. I was basically up the entire night, so I ended up calling in sick to work today. My first sick day of 2007. Stomach is doing alot better now, just a little sore. I've been good. Eating bland food like soup and toast all day. But I still feel icky. I'm sure I'll be better by tomorrow though.

I'm seeing a 11:45am showing of Spiderman 3 with Ken tomorrow and then my Housearming party is tomorrow night for Cinco de Mayo. I'm making Margaritas, Tacos, Guacamole, my famous Spinach Dip, Brownies.... Mmm. It's going to be a yummy night and with all my great friends at my new apartment. I can't wait.
