I'm back already?

Where the heck did 10 days go? How am I back already. But I am and my trip to Italy was fantastic but I am seriously jetlagged right now. I didn't get home till 8 o'clock last night after flying from Rome to Paris, then Paris to JFK, then sat on the JFK runway for an hour while they got a gate for us, while the French teenagers that were surrounding me blathering on and on in French, louder and louder.

So Mom and I finally crashed last night at 9:30pm, being as it was 3:30am, Italy time, and we had been on the go since 8am. But of course due to lovely time difference, I was up by 5am. So caught up on some soaps until 9am, to get ready for work. But we had a blast.

Venice was beautiful, looked just like it does in the movies. Florence was so historical, seeing the David was awe inspiring. We even did a side trip to Pisa and Tuscany. And then we were off to Rome, which I loved the most. It was so much like NYC! More to come later. I'm just wiped! Check us out at the Coliseum in Rome and in Pisa!

The Day has come!

After booking this trip 9 months ago, I can not believe the day has finally come. I am off on my fabulous vacation to Italy tonight. And I can not wait. And thank the lord, it wasn't last night, with the terrible weather.

But my brother, sis in law and nephew Ellis ended up coming to the area this weekend and still came into the city yesterday despite the horrible weather. So we traipsed around in the slushy freezing rain to Toys R Us in Times Square where we rode the humongous ferris wheel, then lunch at Mars 2112 which was so overpriced and not worth it. And then finally made our way to the Museum of Natural History and the Hayden Planetarium. Ellis loved it all. Especially his first rides on the city bus and the subway.

Talk to you all when I return! Arriverdecci!

Loving the Concierge!

So I am about to take a long-awaited vacation, but then I realized I haven't been away since I've lived alone on an extended vaca, so I was curious what I was going to do about the mail situation. Being gone for that long, my mailbox would surely fill up. So I was like, I might have to hold my mail. But that would be annoying since I'd have to then go to the post office when I got back and carry all this mail. It's hard enough even being home when the post office is even open. So tonight when I got home from work, I decided to ask the doorman about it. And shock be me, I can fill out a form for my mail to be left with the concierge desk when my mailbox gets full. How cool is that!?

As for my weekend, I failed at bridesmaid dress shopping with Leslie, so I will be hitting up David's Bridal with her in a few weeks and I got my packing just about done. And on Saturday, I went on a covert mission with Erica and Karen to enjoy some NYU delicacies known as chick-fil-a, but the bastards were closed for spring break! How dare they!? And how dare that fabulous company have no other Chick-fil-a's in all of Manhattan, let alone all of New York State!!! We ended up at Johnny Rocket's though and had some delish dinner and milkshakes.

The night continues on with a bunch of friends hanging at my place for a hilarious evening of Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture DVD game. The game went on for almost 2 1/2 hours, but it was a blast. And I won!!! I don't know how I pulled it out, even after the disastrously embarassing answer in the sports & games category. I won't go into all of the details, but it involved Adolf Hitler and Colonel Mustard! Embarassing is all I will say on the subject! :)

Small World, that's for sure

After a fabulous Saturday night, celebrating Miss Erica's 24th birthday at Telephone Bar & Grill in the East Village, I spent Sunday night at a fundraising party to raise moolah for Mona and Sharon's dog Brownie who is about to have surgery on his badly injured back leg! It was loads of fun, lots of people, food, entertainment, raffles, etc. Then halfway through the party, I see this girl just looking over at me. After a while, I was like, do I know you. She was like, what's your name. I tell her.. then she's like I'm your cousin.. Laura. Holy shit. I couldn't believe it. What a small freaking world. This is a distant cousin of course. My paternal grandpa had like 4 siblings. This girl is the granddaughter of one of the siblings. So our dads are first cousins, but they weren't an extension of the family that we ever saw too often. So I never really knew her growing up. But how random!! This huge city we live in can really be a small world sometimes.

On a side note, how good was Brothers and Sisters last night. I love seeing Amy Abbott ... oops I meant Emily VanCamp formerly of Everwood playing the new sibling, Rebecca. I just love this show more and more every week. And then tonight's Prison Break just had me on the edge of my seat. This show goes back and forth with me, it's so good sometimes, but then some things they really need to improve on like the random escapades of T-Bag and Bellick. But I just love me some Lincoln and Michael. And they came so close tonight to being pardoned, but I knew it wouldn't happen being that that would end the show. But still I was so on the edge of my seat tonight and now it's not on again until 2 weeks from tonight. And I will be sailing down the Venice canal in a gondola by then, so TiVo had better not fail me while I'm gone!!
