I'm Backkkkk!

I have returned from the lovely midwest lands of Ohio. It was a nice long weekend that actually went by pretty quick. Dad is still feeling pretty sore, it will just take some time. But we have a nice Rosh Hashanah. Early on Friday, I took Ellis for lunch at Chik-fil-A at the mall followed by the movie Everyone's Hero. Then Rosh Hashanah dinner on Friday night at my parent's house, then temple services on Saturday afternoon followed by a nice dinner at my brother's house on Saturday. Then on Sunday, me and my sister-n-law Shannon went shopping at TJ Maxx, where I found great deals on a pair of loafers and these really cool jeans. Followed by Old Navy where I picked up a few things, and then we met up with mom at the mall. And then we enjoyed lots of leftovers at my brother's house. I gave the little nephew a bath that night where we said our goodbyes before I headed home to NYC on Monday. So all in all, a nice long weekend.

On a TV note, all my fave shows are back, as well as some good new ones. I still have yet to see Six Degrees, but I'm hoping to check that out. I really enjoyed Brothers and Sisters, it seems like it has good potential for a fun soapy family drama. But favorite new show so far, Heroes. It premiered last night and I loved it. They are repeating it tonight if anyone missed it. It's a must-see. Still to premiere: Ugly Betty and Friday Night Lights.

About to head out to the airport to go see the family for the weekend in the lovely OH. It will be nice to see everyone after all the stress of the dad surgeries of the past month. And to celebrate the Rosh Hashanah holiday. So everyone have a great weekend!

A Fast Weekend!

Boy did this weekend fly by. It's like Sunday night comes so damn fast. But I had a nice one. It was pouring rain on friday, so I just stayed in and chilled out. Then on Saturday night, I cooked turkey-like thanksgiving meal for Ken and Erica and we watched the first four episodes of season two of 24. And my love for Jack Bauer just continues to grow. And some great tales have already kicked off for the second season. And then afterward we walked around the corner to Maggie Moo's ice cream shop and as we sat outside on a bench enjoying our ice cream, this homeless guy just start peeing two feet for us. Can anyone say g-r-o-s-s! Only in Manhattan folks, only in Manhattan.

Today, I headed over to the Upper West Side to meet Leslie for Brunch. And the bus took forever, like 40 minutes!!! All this traffic due to all these street fairs. And an hour going back, the traffic was horrible. This never happens, it normally takes 15 minutes top. Ridiculous. Thank goodness for the ipod. We went to Hi-Life Bar and Grill, but service was so slow. So they only charged us for one meal. The bill was 10 bucks! But the food was really good. I had buttermilk pancakes. Yummy.

And I've been sucked into the Mets this weekend. This is the weekend they were supposed to clinch the NL East Championship, so I promised my brother I would get someone to tape it so when they did clinch it, he could see the celebration, since he doesn't get all the games in Toledo and he was away in Chicago for the weekend anyways. So I had Ken tape it Friday night, but the Mets lost and Phillies won. Ken taped it again Saturday and the same thing happened. And again today!! Craziness!! Maybe they'll clinch it tomorrow night now that they're back at Shea. And I didn't get picked for the post-season ticket lottery. Oh well. Me and Leslie will have to try for regular tickets since she didn't get picked either. I'm just excited for the Mets going all the way. I know, I know. I'm all into it only when they're winning. SO shoot me!

My dad is finally having this neck artery surgery tomorrow. That was the original thing he was supposed to have when they found all this heart stuff. So that will be over tomorrow morning, and we'll finally be done with all this hospital shit. Thank God. Grandma flys in tomorrow and stays for a week and I'll fly in Thursday night. Hopefully the week will fly by!

I Heart Jack Bauer!

I just finished watching the dvd of the first season of 24 and I freaking love Jack Bauer! I can't take it. I must see Season 2 but I will be waiting till Saturday to watch the next dvd with my pals. But omg, the ending, it was just so good. I can't believe I haven't watch this show in the 5 yrs it's been on, but I didn't want to get involved another show. And Alias already had me and was in the same spy realm. But thank god for netflix, it got me hooked on Jack Bauer and crew! So good!!!!

ARGH, Netflix!

I am so pissed right now. Netflix was supposed to send out my next dvd today, which was supposed to be Disc 1 of 24's Season Two. But it got messed up and sent out Laguna Beach instead. Argh. I am pissed today. But luckily. I have two discs so I just have to finish the last 3 eps of my second disc of 24 tonight and pop it in the mail tomorrow. That way, I'll be sure to get the new 24 disc for Season two by Saturday. This is important, because Ken and Erica were planning to come over on Saturday to watch Season 2. Damn netflix, that 24 disc better show up on Saturday! Which shouldn't be a problem as long as I drop the disc in the mail first thing tomorrow!

ARGH!

Five Years Later......9/11

Tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001 also known as 9/11, the worst day in the life of our country, and I've been thinking about it all weekend and it just makes me so sad. All those lives that were lost in my city and in DC as well, still resonates as strongly five years later.

I was in the city that day as was my brother, and thinking about that also makes me think about how much my life has changed since then. My nephew Ellis was only a cell in my sister--in law's stomach that day, since she was only a few weeks pregnant with him at the time. Now, he's a crazy, adorable little 4 year old boy.

Then, I was living with my parent out in Lynbrook on Long Island, while my brother lived 5 minutes away in Valley Stream. Now, my parents, along with my brother and nephew all live 10 hours away in lovely Toledo, Ohio..

Then, I was working at Soap Opera Digest, now I am at the fabulous OK! Magazine...

Then, I hadn't lived on my own other than the four years of college at UMass-Amherst, but now five years later, I am 30, living on my own in this great city that I love, Manhattan. And it just proves that those bastards didn't bring us down five years ago, and they never will.

On a lighter note, as for my weekend, it was nice and relaxing. I went to see grandma on friday night and then spent today doing some shopping at New York & Company and Banana Republic, then checking out the Upper East Side Festival on Third Avenue. Enjoying the last few nice weather days of summer!

And Dad is home finally, sore and tired, but resting up every day. And in less than two weeks, I'll get some nice family time for Rosh Hashanah.

And on the Big Brother front, they booted Janelle out. The bastards! The finale is on Tuesday night and it's down to just Erika and Mike "Boogie". Janelle so deserved to win. But I've been watching Rosie O'Donnell on the The View, which she has been awesome on, and she loves Janelle too, so here's hoping she gets her on the show. And supposedly they want viewers to vote for their favorite person to win $25,000 as America's Choice Winner, so go to cbs.com's Big Brother page and vote for Janelle!

It's Suri Cruise!!

Finally it's Suri Cruise! And she actually looks like both Tom and Katie! Could that be possible? Could this kid really be for real? She is kinda cute.

Where has the Summer Gone?

Seriously guys, someone tell me. Because how is it officially that time of year where summer is over. Labor Day was yesterday, I worked but I'll get a free day off, which I'll save for Yom Kippur at the end of the month. It always bugs the hell out of me wasting my vacation days for the jewish holidays. But with Rosh Hashanah, just two week s away, I'll be able to go see the family for a nice four day weekend. It will be nice to see them after all this stuff with dad. And now we come to find out that today they are putting a pacemaker inside of him. What is up with this? Just let the poor man go home already. Here's hoping he does just that by the weekend. And I was like, can he still use a microwave? But I think that's an old wive's tale. And like my buddy Jason says, "It comes from the Krusty the Clown episode of the Simpsons. When they thought Krusty robbed the QuickiMart, but it couldn't have been him, because the video showed the guy using a microwaves, and Krusty had a pacemaker!" So that's where I got that idea from! LOL.

And can you believe it about Steve Irwin! It's so sad! I was truly saddened yesterday when I heard. And to think it was a damn stingray. He must be pissed, like if he was going to go, you would think it would have been a croc!

Rain, Rain Go Away

Damn that Hurrican Ernesto. It has been raining non stop since last night. Ugh, and along with the crappy week. Dad having surgery and this damn bronchitis, I'm sick of being cooped up inside. I'm actually only 3 days behind on my soaps right now which is unusual for me since I am usually a week behind. LOL. I also watched the first six episode of Laguna Beach, which I have been curious about for quite for awhile. After the first two episodes, I was like I don't know if I can continue watching this, these people are so obnoxious. But truth be told, by the end of the 6th episode, I will admit that I am starting to become hooked. Now I get why Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari became the famous ones out of this show. It's all about them fighting over cute boy Stephen Colletti, who is just too skinny for my taste.

And now I am just about done with 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM of 24's first season. And it is so nervwracking to watch. But I just love it. By the end of this disc, I will be at 4pm and will have only 8 hours to go until Season 2!

As for the dad update, he spiked a little fever today but by this evening, it had gone down. His quote of the day, "I feel like shit!"
