Yanks, again?

So, I am heading off to Yankee Stadium again today. What is up with that? I am a Mets fan right? But it's an outing with my whole copy crew. I should have pushed for a Mets game right? Nah, it's okay. My theory like many of you know, if they're not playing the Mets, hey it's still New York. It will be a fun day, but it's going to be 93 degrees today. And it's going to be like that everyday until Friday! UGH!! I love summer like the next person. But not this kind of summer. I want some 80s with a nice breeze. So I'm coming prepared in a tank top and shorts, and wearing the devil hat according to my brother, the yankees hat Erica gave me.

As for weather, it will drop to 83 on Friday just in time for my long weekend to go visit the family in Ohio. It will be nice to get away for a few days. Especially since they can't seem to fix the damn air conditioning at our office!

Heat Hell

Ugh, it continues. We may have fans over here, but since it's so muggy outside today. We are again dying here at work. The temp is about to hit 81, but it feels so much hotter. And they came over today and said, the building says nothing they can do about the AC right now. Are you kidding me? Isn't it against the law for an office building not to supply proper air conditioning. It's humane. They'd better go buy us some portable air conditioners then, because we won't survive in this.

On a lighter note, I have yet again been sucked into Big Brother this summer. It's such a great summer escape. Something I can just tivo and watch whenever. It's so fun to watch all of these people and their levels of dysfunction. But Prison Break returns in less than a month. So YAY to fox for their early premieres!

A Bad Movie

So yesterday I worked the early shift at work, so I was done by 1:30. So me and Ken headed over to Times Square and saw You, me and Dupress. Omg, it was the stupidest movie ever. We were in pain! It was seriously the worst script ever. Like how does the managers of Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon, all actors that are usually pretty good, say, Hey here's a great script, you need to be in this movie. And in that same instance, how does someone even go to Universal Studios and say, this is script would make a great movie.

On a more positive note, I had my first massage on Sunday with Leslie. I had spent Friday night and all day Saturday visiting grandma, but then needed to be back for this massage on Sunday. And it was amazing. How have I never had a massage. Boy have I been missing out. It is seriously the most relaxing hour I have ever spent. Fantastic!

Working in a Sauna

Okay, yesterday it did cool off outside to like low 80s. But it was still hot in this office. My god. We can't take it back here in our little corner. It even went as high as 85 at one point. By the end of the day, we were just feeling soaked. So I decided to put Jason's hair up, which he claims would make him feel like Steven Segal. But I didn't think so! So now I have come in this morning and it's only 81. Yea right, only! It's cooler outside, AGAIN! Art has even succumbed to wearing shorts and flipflops. And I wearing like the thinnest material I had in my closet. Here's hoping it won't get too bad in here today since it's our late night!

Argh, my pictures of jason's hair and the thermometer yesterday won't post! But you get the picture!

Air Stagnation Alert!

So that's what weather.com says we are under until 11pm tonight. Isn't that crazy? I like the warm weather like the rest of us, but its supposed to hit 99 degrees today, and feel like like 105. And just as hot tomorrow. Oh how I long for those days of 70 degrees with a nice breeze. I guess I shouldn't complain because in just 4 months, we'll be complaining about how cold out it is.

But I had a nice weekend. Hung out with my newly engaged pal Leslie. Had a great dinner out at this place on upper west side called Cafe Fiorello's. It was delish. So Leslie is planning to get married in October 2007 and would you believe a lot of places here in the city are booked already. But I think she's going for Tavern on the Green. They still have two Saturdays in October still available. And how fab will that be. I can't wait. But damn, if you want to get married in this city, you really have to start planning a year and a half in advance.

And my office corner is still blistering. Anyone have a pool that I can jump into...

The Heat of Summer!

Boy has it been hot this week. And unfortunately our office has not been cool. It gets so gross in here towards the main part of the day. I think it's because we sit in a back corner of the office. And don't get the airflow like the main part of the office. But these summer temperates are killing us back here. And it's supposed to be low 90s all weekend and then 95 on Monday and 97 on Tuesday. Yikes! But even on this hot morning, guess what today is? It's mine, along with copy buds Jason and Karen's 1 year-anniversary here at the mag. How cool is that? At first it makes you think where has the year gone, but then you also think, wow it's been a year already. Very cool. But it is Friday and the weekend is here. And I hope to make it a nice and relaxing one!

Me at a Yankees Game?

Yes, shocking right coming from the girl who was born and raised in Long
Island, a mets fan! But you know me, never been a big sports nut. I just
have the history with the mets. So slowly but surely Erica and mostly Karen
has gotten me to pay a little more attention to the yanks. I'm actually
going on an outing with my copy crew to a Yankees Game on July 29. However,
who would have guess this was what the surprise was when Erica said she was
kidnapping me for my birthday.

She gave me all these clues. Grand Central. Thirty minute ride. 6:05 train.
Wear good shoes, there's a bit of a hike. I had no idea. And then all of a
sudden after working the early shift on Monday morning and napping at home
that afternoon, a lightbulb went off. All the clues add up to a baseball
game?? But alas the Mets are away, but the Braves were in town and Erica is
a Georgia girl. But would she be taking me to a Yankees game. I give her a
buzz at work. And she tries to throw me off. So maybe I was wrong. But I
wasn't! We did go to the game and it was lot of fun. And that was just an
outing for us to spend some good time together. My real gift was Walk the
Line on DVD. Yay! We had a blast. I even managed to put on the Yankee hat
she brought me toward the end of the game. My family was not happy to hear
about this. But all is good. My theory is if the Mets aren't involved, who
cares if the Yankee wins? So check out the evidence!

Fourth of July Weekend!

Back to the grind after a nice four days off. I even attempted to walk over to East End Avenue to catch the Macy's Fireworks. Since I live only two blocks from the East River. And I got a nice spot. But then this damn hospital was blocking them. Oh well. I went back and caught it on Tivo. And Bo Bice did a nice rendition of the National Anthem. And Liza Minnelli sang and actually sounded good. She must be on something.

And the rest the whole long weekend was great. The whole copy crew headed out to Art's place in New Jersey on Saturday for a day filled of barbecuing and corn holing. And my lack of sporting capabilities continued as I couldn't score any points. But I did get bitten a quadrillion mosquities. I headed back to the city late and then on Sunday went to see Superman with Ken and Julianna. I loved it. I am so in love with Brandon Routh now. He is so superman and so hot. To think, he was a nothing during his year stint on One Life to Live as Seth Anderson. On Sunday, went to Ken's place for some subathing, watching Superman II (since that's where Superman Returns picks up from) and then some fab dinner at OLE. For the actually holiday, I ventured out to see The Devil Wears Prada. I first tried to the Sony Lincoln Square theater where it was totally sold out. So I tried and succeeded at Loews 42nd Street. And I loved it. Boy that Meryl Streep was scary. I could never work for someone like that.

So all in all a nice, fun and relaxing 4 day weekend. And two more days and it's already the weekend again. I might have to go to Ohio the end of July. My dad is having surgery on his neck. He has a clottery artery or something. I was already planning to go visit the first weekend in August, so I guess we shall see.
