Working on Sunday

I work hard for my money... da da da da... so hard for my money. Here I am my second Sunday in the row at work. But it's all god. Only 2 1/2 more hours to go and I didn't come in till 2. But I'm still tired. Didn't go to bed till 3 last night and till 2am the night before. And both days I was woken up at 11am by banging right below me. They're supposedly redoing an apartment right below or something. Arghhh. But I am off on Tuesday in exchange for working today, so I plan to sleep in. Hopefully not more banging by then.

Even with my weekend being cut short. I still had a fun one. Got out of work early on friday night and met up with Mandy for dinner at Chevy's and to see Must Love Dogs. It was a really cute movie, I just love John Cusack and Diane Lane. And we had such a fun time watching it together with our side commentary. And then a leisurely dinner at Chevy's afterward, we totally had all of us this time catch up. It was so great. I miss our daily chats like we used to have when we worked together. Then I went back to Hoboken and met up with Adena and some friends for some drinks until like 1-ish.

Then last night, me and Adena hit the city for some research for her birthday party. And we found a great place called Mercury Bar that has great music and huge video screens. It will be a good time, so everyone look out for the evite. Now I guess I'd better get back to work.. the lovely VMA's.

Ewwww, mice!

Okay, so we have mice in our office. I came into work on Wednesday to find that our office mice had gotten into both of my desk drawers. Yes, our office mice. UGH! Now that I'm working on the 2nd floor, I guess we're closer to the street. That's the city for you. So the damn mice had muched through every little thing I had in there and left tons of mouse poo. I spent my first hour at work that day cleaning it up. I was so traumatized, I had to remedy the situation with a cream puff and a frappuccino.

Speaking of those cream puffs, they're the death of me. If my fraps were last summer's obsession, these cream puffs are the new one. They are right next door to my new office, and my god they are amazing. Seriously unbeliebvable. But I need to cut down on all this crap, I need to lost some poundage. Definitely need to lose at least 10, would love to take off 20. That would be me back to my skinnyness when I first moved back to new york from ohio.

But other than that, I am just tired right now. I worked late the past two night, so I'm wiped. And I'm working on Sunday too, but I get a free day off in exchange. And we might get out early today, but who knows. I probably just jinxed it. And then hanging with Mandy tonight and scoping out places for the roomie's birthday bash tommorrow night. Her birthday is only a month away. I need to start brainstorming her gift!

It's Tuesday already?

Boy does time fly, when you get a monday off. And the weekend just flew by too. Saw two great flicks. Red-Eye and the 4-year-old virgin. The first one being so edge of your seat thriller good and the second being laugh your ass off hysterical. I highly recommend both of them. And then Sunday I had to go to work, yup you heard that right. But not a big deal to me, since in return I got to have monday off. And sunday I ended up only having to be there an hour, but still got monday off. So yippee. And I have to work again this sunday, VMA day.... but no biggie, I get a free day off in exchange for it.

Then monday, was just a nice free day off. Just chilled, did some Tivo catch up and went out and bought this fresh mozzarella from this amazing italian deli around the corner and made the tastiest baked ziti, yummo! Which is so much food so I will be eating it for weeks! LOL.

And here is my rant of the day, how come every show is going to be on at thursday 8pm and I of course will never be home since I work late on thursday. So all of these are on: Survivor, W&G, THE OC, Alias and Smallville! WHAT THE HELL! So OC and Alias take priority. But tivo only tapes one thing!! help!!!! I definitely have to give up smallville... but the others. Geez.

Me and my friend Cara used to be hooked on making up these quizzes about each other. And so I made up a new one, albeit one that is a bit too easy. As for the rest of my week, it's been pretty quiet. Just two late nights at work and it's been pouring rain all day!! And we were kind of hoping to get out early, but it's not looking too good at this moment. But I do have to work on Sunday for a few hours, which is all good because in return, I get Monday off. YAHHOOO!

Slow day!

Boy today was a slow day at work! It was so quiet until the very end of the day. And there is so much to get out in the next two days that it is going to be crazy. On the flip side, I had lunch with Erica at Koi. I felt like it had been forever, like 2 weeks. Since she was away last weekend and I was away the weekend before. And she died her hair blonde! I wish I could look that good no matter what color my hair is. :)

Chatted with my college roomie Cara tonight. She's planning to visit from ft. lauderdale over colombus day weekend. I can't wait. We haven't had a visit since April 2004 when I went down to florida. Too long for the girl who I lived with all 4 years of college! And she's been hitched for over 2 yrs now, where does the time go. We're already planning what we'll do. Most definitely a night at culture club on saturday night. We love our 80s tunes!

Crazy Rain!

Wow, did you all see that crazy rainstorm we had tonight. And I just missed getting caught in the one we also had this afternoon. I decided I would go get a pedicure and hit the grocey store today. So I head over to the nail place and damn I forgot it's closed on sundays since I usually have gone there on saturdays. DamN! So I head over to Shoprite. And just as I enter, the skies literally opened up with the craziest rain. So I'm like, I may have to call a damn cab to get home. But the rain did stop, but i bought damn heavy stuff. I worked up a sweat just carrying them the 5 blocks home. But then right around dinner time, we ordered in chinese- yummy, even worse rain came pouring down, our lights even flickered. I was like, oh now, we'd better not lose power, we'd have no A/C in this heat. But all is well, as of now. :) Oh, but the new mag was all over shoprite. YAY! I took pics with my new camera phone. Someone please teach me how to post links. And I alsmost didnt have a phone all weekend. Left the charger at work, but Ken picked it up for me! Phew.

But overall, a nice and relazing weekend. Caught up on lots of tivo. I've been so behind on the soaps from being away and working so much. So hung with roomie and friends friday night, vegged all day saturday then had dinner with ken and his in-town family last night. This great little place in Soho with amazing pasta and great prices. Il Corallo Trattoria. Good stuff.

Now onto another week! Hopefully it wont be a crazy late work week. But it's all good. Even with the extra hours, I still love it.

I'm back!

Why, yes. I am back from another trip to ohio. Fun as usual. But glad to get back to good ol NYC. Plenty of bonding time with the nephew. If I knew how to post pics, I would do so here.

I'll detail more later as I didn't get home from work till 9:30 tonight and tomorrow is our usual late night. But I returned to work today and our office fridge has arrived as did my business cards. YAY! And I don't have to work at 7am this monday for deadlines, instead this month, I just have to work at noon one sunday and then get off that monday. so ill be doing that on the 21st. It's not too bad at all. But I'm wiped. More tomorrow!

Hello from Lovely Ohio

Yup, still here in Ohio visiting the fam. I return to my good 'ol new york city tomorrow night. I'm ready. I of course always miss my family and especially little Ellis. But I'm ready to get back to the city. It's funny, but true! But I've had a great visit. Spent so much time with Ellis, we went to Cedar Point, out to lunch, played at Chuckie Cheese and he slept over last night and today we went to his t-ball game. Lots of fun and lots of bonding time. But I'll keep this brief since I should get to packing. We're meeting my sis-in law, ellis and her sister and hubby for lunch tomorrow before I have to go to the airport! That's what nice that my flight isn't until 5pm, I still get part of the day here to play with that cutie-pie!

I'm Off To See Ellis!

Well, I do have a day of work to get through first. But then tonight I am off. But I guess I won't be seeing my sweet little nephew till tomorrow since I don't land at the Detroit airport until 9:35pm. But I can't wait. Not that going to Ohio is at all thrilling, but it's just quality family time, so that's all good. And I'll be there till Tuesday afternoon!

In the meantime, as I walked to work to get here at 9am, I got caught up in the Jessica Simpson mob. Her concert had just let out in Bryant Park, and I happened to be strolling by at the inopportune moment as her and her posse were crossing 41st Street from the Park to the Bryant Park Hotel. Have you ever seen 200 screaming teenage girls, well I have. And it was even more chaotic with the General Lee car parked out front and then they started throwing t-shirts out. I got one. It's kinda cute. But then the cops started getting pissed off at the T-shirts guys. Funny stuff, but not so fun trying to get through this mob while pulling my travel suitcase.

But I am sporting my dull people t-shirt! So I'm spreading the word! :)

EXCITING WEEK!

Boy, this week has been so exciting at work and lots of work too at the same time. We closed our first issue on Monday! Yeah, and then we had a great fun party at PH to celebrate. It was also the editor's b-day. So loads of fun. But cut myself after two screwdrivers. I'd already had a glass of champagne at work for the cake office party. What the life, right? But I could feel the buzz coming on, so I moved onto ice water. Don't want to get trashed and end up on the bar at the first office party right? But others surely didn't obey that rule. But it was fun. Then the rest of the weel has just been crazy busy. Boy this shows me that Digest was not a Weekly like this is. It's so non-st0p. I love it, but I'm exhausted. And today all the PR for our mag. It was on the streets, on ET. In the papers. I can't wait to see it in all the stores this week. I'll be in the lovely OH visiting the fam. I am dying to see Ellis. It's been just over two months. And I can't wait to see him.

I fly in Friday night at like 9:30pm to Detroit. Plan on hanging with Ellis on Saturday. We're all going to take him to the Cedar Point Amusement Park. Then Sunday, we'll maybe hit the pool and then mom is making my favorite home-cooked meal. Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes (she makes these yummy, creamy ones with cream cheese in them), and Asparagus with Breadcrumbs. MMMMMM!!!! Then Monday, I get Ellis duty all day. I think we'll hit the pool and then Chucky Cheese. Sis-in-law Shannon says that Ellis has been talking about me taking him all week! AWWW. And mom said to Ellis, "Rana is coming to see you in a few days". And he's like yeah, she's taking a bus. Mom's like, no an airplane! He's soo cute. And on Monday night, he's playing in his T-BALL league. And Tuesday more time with him before my 5pm flight home. WHEW!

But I can't wait!
