Yes, I am still alive

After a few weeks break, I am back on the blog. The end of March was crazy with all the preparations moving toward the renovation of my kitchen. It's so exciting and nervewracking. But I just can't wait until I can have my dream kitchen. But the renovation is supposed to start on April 16 and I can not wait. Although it is going to suck not have a kitchen for the 6-8 weeks they project will take for the kitchen to be done. And then I was also sick with lovely step throat during the whole last week of March. I still have little remnants of it still with this annoying cough. Ugh! This winter has sucked, I have had colds, bronchitis and now strep. And strep throat is the worst. I don't think I have had it since high school. It is such agony every time you swallow, you just can't do anything. But here's hoping with it finally being April, that this cold weather is on its way out. Because I am so over this winter and all of its yuckiness.

Weird people out there

Okay, so tonight after a fab night out in Hoboken with pals Karen and Rachel, I encountered some interesting groups of people on the PATH train back to the city. After waiting for 15 minutes for the train to come, I get on quickly and grab a seat, surrounded by this group of 5 black people, two of them dressed in the most slutty outfits I have ever seen. These were not small women and their boobs were just popping out of these horribly tight dresses they're wearing. And then I notice that the person each of these people is sitting with looks kinda dressed like a guy, but wait they are girls and then they start to making out with each other. And the 5th person was this big guy. Was he their pimp or just the fifth wheel on this lesbian double date. And then they got off at Christopher Street. It was all very bizarre. Then on the flip side, were they jappy girl groups. There were multiple groups of these girls with the straight brown hair, high black heels and either fancy jeans or little black mini dresses and no jackets. First of all how do they wear these insane heels all night and no jackets out in the city tonight. I was freezing with my damn jacket on. I just don't get it. My feet would be hurting just standing on the PATH ride, but then being out clubbing all night. Guess that's why I much prefer a night out to dinner with friends and then back to my warm apartment with my shoes off and no club music thumping in my head all night.

Spice up your Life

Wow, my hearing is a little fuzzy since I just home from the Spice Girls concert at Madison Square Garden, but it was well worth it. They put on an amazing show, after all the money we spent on the tickets I was excited for it. But it surpassed my expections. The girls sounded great, looked great and the production on the concert was incredible. The best part had to be Posh. She cracked me up. All the girls had solos, but when it came time for Posh, she just walked the catwalk to Madonna instead of doing a solo. That is so Posh. But it was definitely a great night.

As for more in the music world, tomorrow night starts the real good part of American Idol. The Top 24 starts tomorrow and I've got some early favorites: Australian Michael, Carly Smithson and Nyesha Mercado. But one never knows what will happen especially the fact that four of these boys we've barely even seen. Only time will tell!

Yes, I'm still alive

I know it's been awhile, but my trip to Disney was fabulous. But alas, I did not meet my Prince Charming. I did met the Prince Charming at a dinner one night, but unfortunately I could not snag him away from Cinderella. I loved all the characters we met, all the delicious food and the fabulous rides. But seriously after a week of Disney, we were ready for cynical New Yorkers again. LOL. But it was a fabulous time in the happiest place on earth. Then just a week later, I have been smacked down with a horrible cold and cough. After self-enforced confinement in my apartment all weekend, I am feeling a bit better. But still not too great. Here's hoping I'm at the tale end of this thing.

Two days until Disney!

Just two days until Disney and luckily I am finally kicking the butt of this sucky bronchitis I've had for the past week. But now that I'm on the meds I'll be good to go for my disney trip on Saturday. I am so excited. What is better than 7 days of Mickey, Minnie and the gang, plus rides, amazing food and my whole family and my best friend coming along for the fun. It's been two years since we all last went and I'm excited how differently my nephew Ellis will react to Disneyworld this time around. He was only 3 1/2 last time, now he is 5 1/2 and is tall enough to ride the adult ride, so that should be interesting. Here's hoping the weather holds out, right now it's saying upper 60s to low 70s. I was hoping for upper 70s, but alas it will still be better than the 30s and 40s NYC will be having while we're gone. Happiest Place on Earth, here I come! :)

Tivo has died!!!!!

I am so distressed, I feel like I am going through withdrawal. This morning, while watching the Rachael Ray show, my Tivo just froze on me. It has done this every so often in the past, so I go to unplug it and restart it. But when I go to plug it back in, it sparks and then nothing. Nothing! It's dead. Alas, I had it almost 4 years so it was probably time.

So, I immediately called the Tivo people and luckily I can exchange it for a new one for just 79 dollars, but that the new one will take 3-5 days to arrive. Ahhh I'm already having withdrawal, I never realized how used to Tivo I had gotten. I now have to watch things live and sit through commercials.

And I lost so much stuff on the Tivo. I knew it would happen one day and I guess it was a good time when a lot of the shows aren't even on. But I lost all last week of Days and the ABC soaps, plus many episodes of Ghost Whisperer, Las Vegas, ER and Gossip Girl. And two eps of the Rachael Ray show. But I guess I'll survive, I guess that's what DVDs and repeats are for, except for the soaps of course. But no biggie.

Here's hoping I get the new Tivo by this weekend. The good part is I'm getting a new series2 which means I get to record two things at the same time. Finally!!!

Anyways, here's wishing everyone a fabulous 2008 and brand new Tivo for me in the new year.
